Chapter 1900 - 1893: Order Whatever You Want
Chapter 1900 - 1893: Order Whatever You Want
"What? There’s real meat in the trading market?"
"Meat? You mean that legendary meat? How did meat show up in the trading market? Did someone bring it in from outside the Endless Land?"
"Impossible. Unless you carry it on your body, there’s no way to bring it in through a space storage device. Other than Humans, no other creature can enter the Endless Land either."
"Come on, let’s go take a look. I’ve never eaten meat in my whole life!"
"I heard that meat is crazy expensive. Just one sausage, with only a tiny bit of meat in it, costs 1 level nine Crystal Core!"
"Rarity makes it precious. It’s just a level nine Crystal Core, I have to try it today no matter what!"
The news that meat had appeared in the trading market was like a heavy bomb going off in the entire Luosai Fortress City. Almost everyone heard about it. Some people had never tasted meat; some had never even smelled it. Even if they couldn’t afford it, they still had to come and broaden their horizons!
Very soon, the entire trading market was surrounded three layers inside and three layers outside.
At one level nine Crystal Core per sausage, most people simply didn’t have that kind of spending power. But for Martial Artists above Ninth Grade Divine Cultivator, most of them could afford it, especially those Dao Realm Martial Artists. For them, hunting Phantom Profound Beasts from Ninth Grade Divine Cultivator to Peak Ninth Grade, collecting their Energy Crystal Cores, was actually not that hard.
So for Dao Realm Martial Artists, if they only wanted to make money, it wasn’t difficult. They absolutely had the spending power for this.
As for Zhang Menglong, he had never intended to target ordinary people as his customers. Martial Artists above Ninth Grade Divine Cultivator were his target clients, and those Dao Realm Martial Artists were his core clientele!
"Make way, make way!"
"What are you broke guys blocking the way for?"
A few big, burly Martial Artists squeezed out from the crowd. Looking at the sausages sizzling in hot oil, they couldn’t help but drool.
These Martial Artists were all Dao Realm powerhouses, and they had grown up here in the Endless Land. Up till now, they had never eaten real meat.
Although people in those Fortress Cities relied on Science to modify Human genes and turn them into meat-food, that kind of meat-food wasn’t just morally questionable; the taste and texture were terrible, even a bit sour and rotten.
Because of the destruction of space storage devices, technological development in the Endless Land had basically started from zero. Most of the people who came here were Martial Artists. It took a long time for Science to develop, and most of their energy went into survival-related tech. These life-quality-improvement technologies were really not that impressive.
Otherwise, with just instruments and genetic maps of lifeforms, they could even fabricate meat out of thin air.
"My god, that smell... this is real meat!" The eyes of those Dao Realm Martial Artists lit up. At their level, Dao Realm Martial Artists had endless lifespans and very high status in the Endless Land. If they had no desire to pursue higher realms, they could basically just lie flat.
These few were classic examples of lying flat. Their goal was simply to live better and make life tastier.
In the Endless Land, power, status, women, land—whatever they wanted, they had. Other than the extremely rare Dao Realm Phantom Profound Beasts, nothing could really threaten their existence. The only thing they lacked was this kind of pleasure for the palate.
To be honest, right now they were itching to strip all the meat off Zhang Menglong’s body and enjoy it all by themselves.
But this was Luosai Fortress City. Even though Dao Realm powerhouses had huge authority here, there were still some limits. They didn’t dare go too far, or else the City Lord might personally take action to assert his rule.
"Give me ten!" One Dao Realm powerhouse stepped forward and took out nine level nine Crystal Cores.
"You got it, boss!" Zhang Menglong deftly sprinkled on the seasonings and handed over ten sausages.
"I want ten too!"
"Give me ten as well!"
The three Dao Realm powerhouses each ordered ten sausages and happily started eating.
"Oh my god, so this is what meat tastes like. It’s too delicious."
"It really lives up to the legends. It’s just a pity this stuff is way too rare."
"Yeah, if only we could eat meat like this every day."
For Dao Realm powerhouses, ten sausages only counted as a small taste, not even enough to fill the gaps in their teeth. They even licked every last bit of minced meat off the Bamboo Stick Mountain skewers.
"Little brother, how much meat do you have?" one of them asked nervously.
They weren’t afraid of the meat being expensive; they were afraid there’d be too little of it, that after this one time there’d be no more.
"As much as you want," Zhang Menglong wasn’t the least bit worried about being targeted.
"For real?" Their eyes lit up. "Then will you be setting up your stall here every day from now on?"
"I’ll be here for a while, but only for some time. After that I’ll head somewhere else." Zhang Menglong only planned to earn a batch of start-up capital here. As for the rest, he’d talk about it after he built his city.
"You’ll find out then," Zhang Menglong sold them a bit of mystery first. "Gentlemen, want some more? I’ve got some other meat dishes too, want to give them a try?"
Zhang Menglong had no idea how many Warcraft corpses he had on him. Anyway, the storage space inside Gou Dan was practically infinite. All the Warcraft corpses he’d hunted before had been stored away by him. Even if he supplied the entire Endless Land, they could probably eat for several meals.
"You’ve got other meat dishes?"
"Of course. The prices are just a bit different." As he spoke, Zhang Menglong took out another big pot, filled it with water and brought it to a boil, then took a lump of dough and started kneading. The dough in his hands got thinner and thinner, then he threw it into the water to cook. He sprinkled on scallions and cilantro, plus a few almost transparent slices of meat.
"Lanzhou Hand-pulled Noodles, 20 Level Eight Crystal Cores per bowl."
"That’s so little," the Martial Artist said, looking at those measly three or four slices of meat.
"Can’t be helped," Zhang Menglong shook his head. "Meat’s expensive to begin with. The sausages you just had were pure meat. Being able to get three or four slices for 20 Level Eight Crystal Cores is already pretty good. Of course, you can add an extra serving of meat."
"Add a serving for me!"
The Martial Artist blurted out without even thinking.
"You got it!" Zhang Menglong picked out 10 slices of meat and laid them on top. "That’ll be 1 level nine Crystal Core and 20 Level Eight Crystal Cores in total."
"That expensive?" The Martial Artist’s face changed instantly. Just 10 slices of meat and it cost a level nine Crystal Core? This was daylight robbery!
Zhang Menglong couldn’t be bothered to explain. "If you don’t want it, that’s fine. I do honest business, never force a sale."
He picked up the bowl himself and slurped the noodles down, those few slices of meat chewed extra long on purpose.
No kidding, back on Earth, some so-called beef noodles could have a cow still alive after being eaten for a year. At this price, he was already being incredibly conscientious.
"Give me two extra servings of meat!" Watching Zhang Menglong eat with such relish, the Martial Artist finally decided to give it a try.
"You got it!" Zhang Menglong placed a steaming bowl of noodles in front of him—another big haul of Crystal Cores in the bag.
"Got any other pure meat dishes?" the other two Martial Artists asked.
"I do!" Zhang Menglong took out the menu he had prepared in advance.
Sweet and Sour Pork, Popcorn Chicken, Original-Flavor Finger-licking Fried Chicken, Roast Lamb Leg...
All of them were names of Earth delicacies. Of course, the meat came from all kinds of Warcraft, and the flavor and texture were countless times better than the originals.
"Bosses, order whatever you like!"
