Chapter 2781 - 2782: Worse Than an Animal
Chapter 2781 - 2782: Worse Than an Animal
Bai Ruozhu pulled Meng Jinse onto the horse carriage, while Jiang Yichun didn’t follow and instead sat at the front with the coachman.
"Taking Mr. Jiang’s seat, how embarrassing," Meng Jinse said softly, blushing, "You two have such a good relationship. I’ve always been envious."
Bai Ruozhu smiled, avoiding further discussions about romantic relationships, and helped her sit steadily. "Come, let me put on the human skin mask for you. Soon, we can shop however we want."
"Okay," Meng Jinse said with a smile.
The human skin mask was soon on, and she found it fascinating, reaching out to touch it, surprised. "It feels like my own skin, hardly any difference."
"There is a difference, the human skin mask is slightly cooler than your skin, but it’s generally unnoticeable," Bai Ruozhu smiled as she styled her hair into a simple matronly bun, matching with the ordinary face provided by the mask, making her appear very low-key.
The carriage quickly reached the bustling street in the city, Bai Ruozhu asked the coachman to stop and assisted her in getting off.
"Achun, you go back to your own affairs first, Jinse and I will be shopping for quite a while," Bai Ruozhu said with a smile.
"Alright, I’ll call Jianqi to guard you two," Jiang Yichun agreed without hesitation.
When it comes to shopping, even the loving Jiang Yichun couldn’t stay all the way through, it was simply a man’s nightmare.
Bai Ruozhu took Meng Jinse’s hand and went to Hua Xiangrong. As soon as she, the big boss, showed up, the shopkeepers immediately greeted her.
"Dong Family, do you want to check the accounts?" the shopkeeper asked.
Bai Ruozhu waved her hand, "You handle your work, I’m just bringing my friend to look around."
She turned to Meng Jinse, "See if there’s anything you like, feel free to pick."
Meng Jinse’s eyes landed on a small handbag, she loved coral and couldn’t take her eyes off it instantly.
"I want that one," Bai Ruozhu said.
The shopkeeper showed a difficult expression and whispered, "Dong Family, a customer has already ordered that item and will pick it up in a few days."
Meng Jinse hurriedly said, "I don’t want it, please don’t break the rules for me."
"It’s for an out-of-town customer, and that day this design was auctioned, going to the highest bidder, that gentleman paid a high price and settled the full payment immediately, saying it’s a birthday gift for his wife," the shopkeeper whispered.
He does seem like a good husband, but Bai Ruozhu didn’t want Meng Jinse to compromise, as she had suffered too much already.
"Make another one for him, I’ll take this," she said.
"Ruozhu, I really don’t need it, it’s not proper," Meng Jinse tugged at her sleeve, trying to persuade her.
Bai Ruozhu laughed, "No worries, I’ll coordinate, as long as you like it."
The shopkeeper was sweating nervously, whispering, "Dong Family, this is a limited edition, we’ve promised the customer that there would only be this one."
This episode did indeed give Bai Ruozhu a dilemma, she valued integrity over business.
"Ruozhu, really, it’s unnecessary, even if you take it I won’t accept it," Meng Jinse emphasized.
Bai Ruozhu thought for a moment, "No problem, I’ll sketch a design and they can rush to make you an even prettier one, it should be ready by the day after tomorrow at latest."
The shopkeeper breathed a sigh of relief, smiling, "Great idea, we haven’t seen Dong Family’s drawings in a while."
The assistant quickly brought over the paper and pencil, a custom-made colored pencil, which was Bai Ruozhu’s prior drawing habit, still retained at Hua Xiangrong.
She picked up the pencil and began drawing, the store’s bag was a small handbag style, adorned with bright red corals, forming a pattern of red butterflies, exquisitely designed.
With a few strokes, Bai Ruozhu sketched a small tote bag, actually drawing two straps, one woven with embedded red corals, another with red woven leather, she also noted the material along the side.
The small bag did not have as many coral embellishments as the previous one, but was more refined near the front princess clasp, even adding transparent crystal stones.
"With some diamonds, it’d be even more beautiful," she sighed after finishing the drawing.
She added a few more notes defining the bag’s functions.
The coral-strap and the leather-strap could be used separately or together. If together, it could allow the bag to sling across the shoulder.
Furthermore, folding one strap in half and connecting it with the other creates a mid-length strap, perfect for a single shoulder carry.
The shopkeeper was astonished, inquiring, "Dong Family, can we use this strap design on other bags?"
"Sure, but you’d need to tweak it, and it’s not suitable for all bags, like large ones," Bai Ruozhu replied.
"Great, I’ll rush it to the embroiderers for assembly, promising to finish by tomorrow," the shop manager said excitedly.
Bai Ruozhu nodded with a smile, feeling pleased with the improving capabilities of her people.
On leaving Hua Xiangrong, Meng Jinse still felt uncomfortable, "Sister Ruozhu, it’s too much trouble for you."
"Trouble? You originally should’ve had it, it’s just been ordered away," Bai Ruozhu said helplessly, after all, being away for long has made her unaware of many situations.
"Your design looks better, I gained from this," Meng Jinse said sweetly with a smile.
"No need for formalities, let’s get you some clothes, you’re dressed too plainly," Bai Ruozhu said, pulling her to the adjacent Ready-made Clothes Shop, quickly choosing a set in the latest Capital City style.
The skirt was pleated, and had eight elegant tassels in different directions, adorned with jade, very beautiful.
Meng Jinse, being a young girl after all, was almost about to twirl around happily, Bai Ruozhu also thought it was pretty, saying, "I’ll have a few more made for us to wear together."
"Sounds great," Meng Jinse beamed even more.
Leaving the Ready-made Clothes Shop, Meng Jinse’s outfit instantly attracted many’s attention on the street.
Not far away, a girl with a maid and a snow-white puppy in her arms.
"Who is that? Even bought that skirt? Rich folks," the girl said unhappily.
By chance, Meng Jinse turned to speak to Bai Ruozhu, revealing her appearance to the girl.
"So ordinary-looking, it’s such a waste of a good skirt," the girl scoffed coldly, her gaze shifting to the puppy in her arms, suddenly sneering, "Xuexue, go, teach her a lesson."
The little white dog, whatever its breed was, was surprisingly clever. It leaped from her arms and rushed towards Meng Jinse.
Yelp! The puppy barked, leaping at Meng Jinse’s skirt, biting a tassel, followed by a ripping sound, tearing the corner of the skirt, breaking two tassels.
Bai Ruozhu squinted her eyes, reaching out to grab the small white dog.
"Let go of my dog!" the girl rushed over yelling, "Who are you? How dare you quarrel with a clueless animal? You truly are less than an animal!"
