Chapter 529: The Last Affinity
Chapter 529: The Last Affinity
’I wanted to test it out and see how the ice affinity would react. It’s interesting that it did like this.’
’It nearly froze my perception
Although it felt like he had been walking for days, that was not true.
It had only been a few seconds.
Why would he walk for so long when he didn’t have such time to waste?
Simon took another look at his surroundings, and he could not help but have a thought.
’And affinities really does reflect nature.’
Fire was violent.
Wind was free.
Shadow was consuming.
Ice was silent.
It was truly an amazing thing to see.
Simon closed his eyes, then he completely stopped moving.
The blizzard howled around him.
The temperature continued dropping.
Ice began forming across his body.
His hair became covered in frost.
His eyelashes froze.
His skin turned pale.
Yet Simon remained motionless.
One minute passed.
Then another.
Then another.
Eventually...
Simon sensed it.
It was only a tiny fluctuation.
Extremely small, extremely subtle, yet it existed.
His eyes snapped open.
"There you are."
BOOM!
His Will erupted.
The entire frozen wasteland trembled.
The blizzard instantly became chaotic.
The endless snowstorm collapsed inward.
The mountains shattered.
The icebergs exploded.
The frozen world cracked apart, and large chunks of ice flew through the darkness.
A few seconds later, the concealment was broken, and at the center of the collapsing frozen world was a floating small crystal.
A beautiful crystal no larger than a fist.
It looked like ice, but at the same time, it didn’t.
It floated quietly amidst the destruction, and radiated endless cold.
Simon stretched out his hand, and the moment he did, the crystal immediately tried to disappear.
It tried to conceal itself once more.
Unfortunately... It was too late.
Once Simon found it, there was no way it could escape.
In fact, if not for the fact that this was a new affinity, he would have found the ice affinity a long time ago.
He was still trying to get used to having an affinity for the ice element.
His Will wrapped around it, and the crystal trembled.
However, it could not escape his grasp.
Because of this, the frozen wasteland completely collapsed.
All of its ice, its frost, its snow... everything condensed into the crystal.
Simon grabbed it this time with his hand.
The moment he did, an astonishing chill spread throughout his consciousness.
Even his soul felt frozen for an instant.
Yet Simon merely tightened his grip, then without hesitation...
He fed the crystal into his Chaos Flame.
BOOM!
The reaction was immediate, and it was far greater than before.
The dark silver Chaos Flame exploded outward.
Azure winds.
Black shadows.
Orange flames.
White frost.
The four affinities erupted simultaneously, and the darkness of the Chaos Flame Space cracked in countless places.
The Chaos Flame itself began twisting violently.
The flames burned hotter.
The winds became more violent.
The shadows spread further.
The frost froze everything it touched.
And for the first time since beginning his advancement...
Simon’s expression became solemn.
Because he could feel it.
The affinities were no longer merely resisting each other.
They were beginning to reject one another.
And he still hadn’t fused the rarest affinity he had...
Space.
Before focusing on space, he had to control the unruly elements that were trying to destroy his Chaos Flame.
With the addition of the ice element, the false stability he introduced was broken.
Every single element was trying to be the dominant element, but none of the elements were going down without a fight.
As Simon observed this battle between the elements, he knew that if he stopped controlling their chaos, the wind element would eventually win.
Despite how fearsome the fire element, shadow element, and ice element seemed, his affinity for the wind element was the highest.
"Be calm."
Simon suddenly spoke with a calm, but deep and cold voice.
His Will immediately pressed down on the four elements like a mountain, and they resisted.
However... It was futile.
In less than a minute, they all became calm.
Simon forced them to coexist with one another.
Then he looked at the silver crack in the sky that represented his spatial affinity.
He left this element for last because he was certain that out of all the elements, it would most likely be the trickiest.
Simon took a step forward, then with a thought, he started flying.
This was the space of his Chaos Flame, so he could do nearly anything.
However, Simon started noticing something.
He was flying toward the silver crack, but he was not getting any closer to it.
He was moving.
He was certain that he was moving, but from his point of view and an outsider’s point of view, it looked like the distance between him and the silver crack was not changing at all.
When Simon noticed this, he stopped moving.
He was not surprised that this was happening.
He had expected it.
He knew that his spatial affinity would not want to be controlled like the other elements, and he had thought of several methods this particular chaos would attempt to fight him back.
One was the spatial crack suddenly releasing spatial blades at him, and the other was exactly what was currently happening to him.
Many demons would have preferred their spatial affinity releasing spatial cracks since one just needed to avoid and overcome the spatial cracks to finally control the spatial affinity.
They would despair if they were in a situation like Simon where his spatial affinity chose a safer and wiser method to prevent him from controlling it.
If Simon and his Will could not reach the silver crack, how would he ever control it?
This was what his spatial affinity believed.
However...
Simon merely stood in the air and closed his eyes.
About ten seconds later, his body flickered and he suddenly appeared in front of the silver crack.
Before his spatial affinity could react, his Will descended on it like a waterfall, and Simon held it.
In the blink of an eye, he subdued his spatial affinity.
