Chapter 357 Norway Station
Chapter 357 Norway Station
On January 5th, I said goodbye to Denmark and flew to Norway.
When the plane landed at Oslo-Galemun Airport, the world outside the window had turned completely white.
The trees in the distance were bent low by the heavy snow, and the gray sky hung low, as if another heavy snowfall was imminent.
A biting wind swept through, and the temperature dropped to minus seven degrees Celsius. Everyone wrapped themselves tightly in their down jackets, their breath condensing into puffs of mist in front of their eyes.
Tang Yan pulled her down jacket hood up to its tightest point, leaving only her eyes visible, and exhaled a lot of white mist when she spoke.
"It's so cold."
The hotel is located near Carl John Street, and you can see the Royal Palace at the end of the street from your room window.
The palace roof was covered in snow, and several local children were building a snowman in the square in front of it. Their laughter was kept out by the double-pane glass, making it all the more precious on this dreary winter afternoon.
The game used to select tour guides was a snow balance competition.
The production team drew two tracks in the small courtyard behind the hotel and placed several obstacles on the tracks.
Participants need to carry a cup full of water on a tray and walk around an obstacle on the snow. The person with the least amount of water left in their cup will act as the guide.
Fan Binbin was the first to perform.
She carefully moved across the snow carrying the tray, but halfway across, her foot slipped, her body swayed, and half of the water was gone.
Qin Lan performed very well, but she spilled some water when she bent over the horizontal bar at the last obstacle, leaving the bar only seven-tenths full.
Li Dabai walked the fastest, but also spilled the most, leaving less than half a cup in the cup by the time he reached the finish line.
She shrugged and put the cup on the table.
Liu Yan, Tang Yan...
After everyone completed the challenge, Fan Binbin and Li Dabai had the least amount of water.
So these two are the tour guides for the Norway leg of the tour.
The next day, after everyone had lunch.
"Today's project is the Vigeland Sculpture Park."
The park was silent in the snow.
The naked human sculptures were covered with a thin layer of snow, the muscle textures were faintly visible, and the facial expressions were even more vivid against the backdrop of the white snow.
The famous sculpture, "Angry Little Boy," depicts a boy clenching his fists, looking up at the sky and crying out, his face filled with anger and sorrow.
A ring of dark black footprints was left on the snow outside the fence by tourists.
Tang Yan stood in front of that sculpture for a long time.
"Do I lack artistic talent?"
Why can't I appreciate these sculptures?
Fan Binbin stood next to her, his hands in his coat pockets.
"Everyone has different aesthetic tastes, so there's no need to force yourself to appreciate them."
Some people appreciate the technique, some appreciate the story, and some simply feel an emotion.
The sky in the distance gradually cleared, and sunlight peeked through the holes in the clouds.
Liu Yan walked alone among the sculptures further away.
A man and a woman were entangled together; the woman's head was tilted back, and the man's hands were wrapped around her waist.
"We've grown old together, that's for sure."
In the distance, Qin Lan was taking pictures of the snow scene with Li Dabai, while Tang Yan had already run off to look at other sculptures.
The sound of the wind was exceptionally clear in the empty park, like an ancient folk song composed with ice and snow.
Over the next few days, they left their footprints on the roof of the Oslo Opera House, the longship at the Viking Ship Museum, and the simulator at the Holmenkollen Ski Jump.
The wind was particularly strong that day at the opera house. The cold wind blowing in from the fjord carried fine snowflakes that stung people's faces.
The group, however, insisted on climbing onto the rooftop to overlook the entire city.
Fu Yibai stood at the very edge of the rooftop, the hem of his coat tugged by the wind, squinting at the snow-covered city as he faced the falling snow and the biting wind.
After coming down from the roof, Fan Binbin went to negotiate with Fu Yibai and got a "heating subsidy". That night, everyone drank hot Norwegian fish soup, which contained a lot of cream and cod. Every spoonful was energy to fight the cold.
At the Viking Ship Museum, Li Dabai stared at a Viking longship from a thousand years ago for a long time.
The ship was black with a thick keel and once carried Norse Vikings across the giant waves of the North Atlantic.
On January 9th, dog sledding was the highlight of the Oslo station.
The sledding area is in the forest near the Holmenkollen jump.
More than a dozen huskies were already waiting at the starting line.
They scratched at the snow restlessly, making excited whimpering sounds.
The dog sledding activity is done in pairs, with one person sitting in front and the other standing behind to drive.
Fan Binbin, who was a tour guide, volunteered to become one of the drivers.
Zhang Ruoyun and Chen Xiao became the two drivers.
"What should we do if someone is left alone?"
Fan Binbin looked at the four women with a troubled expression.
"How come someone is alone?"
I have a way.
Qin Lan smiled faintly and ran towards the filming crew amidst the puzzled looks of the crowd.
"Oh, oh, I'm talking to Director Li about something."
Qin Lan pulled Fu Yibai and walked in front of the camera.
"We need a driver urgently, please come quickly."
"I don't know how."
"We don't know either, but the coach will teach us."
"Jenny, my bag."
Fu Yibai tossed the crossbody bag to Guo Zhenni.
Guo Zhenni jogged over and picked up her backpack from the snow.
"Is this your solution?"
Several people looked at each other.
"Isn't this a good idea?"
I'm in the same group as General Manager Fu.
"Sister Lan is so cunning, I also want to be in a group with President Fu."
Tang Yan stamped her feet in the snow and protested, half-jokingly.
"You guys."
Fu Yibai shook his head helplessly.
"Group them quickly, group them quickly."
Fearing that the group would continue to cause trouble, Qin Lan quickly urged them to form groups.
In the end, Qin Lan was paired with Fu Yibai, Fan Binbin and Tang Yan were paired together, Zhang Ruoyun carried Liu Yan, and Chen Xiao carried Li Dabai.
The instructor gave a brief explanation of the commands and techniques for controlling the sled, and then everyone set off amidst a noisy commotion.
Upon hearing the command, the huskies dashed off like arrows released from a bow.
The sled sped along the compacted snow track, the pine forests on both sides rushing past, and the cold wind whistling past our ears.
During the rest break, everyone's cheeks were red from the cold, but they were all very excited.
Li Dabai squatted down and gently stroked a panting husky, which then rubbed against her hand affectionately.
Liu Yan took out her phone and took a picture of everyone chatting and laughing around the sled and the dogs, their breath steaming in the air. The picture was a vivid and lively scene in winter.
As dusk fell, they returned to the sledding area.
The sky took on a pale pinkish-purple hue, and the outlines of the forest softened in the twilight.
